Tangee Massey is a proud military brat who traveled the world as a youth with her family. At the age of 12 while living in Germany, Tangee learned to crochet from her mother, Loretta Massey. Upon graduation from high school, Tangee attended Virginia State University (VSU) where she majored in Textiles Apparel Merchandising Management (TAMM) with a minor in Business Management.

The combinations of TAMM with her natural style instincts, influenced by her mom, allowed Tangee to explore, challenge, and expand the boundaries of her fashion acumen. Tangee became a sister of the world famous VSU Woo-Woo’s and a proud member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. First and foremost, Tangee is honored and most proud of being a mother of four children. In 2011, Tangee desired to supplement her families’ income hence the journey of Tangee’s Closet began.

Tangee takes great pride in volunteering with various non-profit organizations to raise awareness and money for charities focusing on NICU babies (March of Dimes/American Heart Association) and survivors of human sex-trafficking. As an avid crafter, Tangee teaches crafting to seniors and the mentally disabled.  Tangee hosts seminars for VSU’s TAMM Department sharing crocheting and her sewing skills. Tangee prides herself on her attention to detail through handmade, one-of-a-kind garments-from sophisticated gowns, stylish dresses, swimsuits, flirty skirts and tops to her best-selling hats, gloves, and scarf sets. Tangee’s commitment to the environment and sustainability enhances her ability to incorporate upcycling into her designs. As everyone was confronted with the changes to day to day life while combating COVID-19, Tangee again sprung into action leveraging her creativity to develop fashion forward crocheted customized face coverings that have received rave reviews and expanded her customer base.
